One day I stumbled upon an injured songbird
She had the most beautiful colors I had ever seen
And sang the most beautiful songs I had ever heard
I carried her home and claimed her as my own
At first I clipped her wings so she wouldn’t injured herself more
I took care of her until she was better
And soon she was ready to fly away
But I continued to clip her wings because I wanted her to stay…
I realized I had to let her go
And it hurt to do so but I knew if it was meant to be
The songbird would fly into the world and eventually come back to me.
